Maupin to Head Tennessee Soybean Promotion Council

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Tennessee Soybean Promotion Council has appointed Stefan Maupin as the new Executive Director of the Tennessee Soybean Promotion Council.

A respected expert in agricultural policy issues, Maupin will assume his new role this summer. He succeeds long-time Executive Director Parks Wells. Following a 30-year career with Tennessee Soybean, Wells will move to the role of Executive Director Emeritus.

Maupin has worked for the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation for the past 27 years — the last 10 as Director of Public Policy. In this role, he has worked tirelessly to bridge the gap between farmers and lawmakers on agricultural issues at the state and national level.

“Tennessee soybean producers are an integral part of our global economy, and I am excited to work with farmers across the state and their leadership within the Tennessee Soybean Promotion Council. Our team will continue the legacy that made Tennessee a national and international advocate of soy products,” said Maupin.

The Tennessee Soybean Promotion Council is responsible for managing the investment of soy checkoff dollars that are used to fund soybean research, market development, and education.

“We are confident that with Stefan’s knowledge of the agricultural industry and his leadership capabilities, he will be an excellent fit to guide our organization as we develop and expand opportunities for the soybean growers of Tennessee,” said Alan Meadows, state director to the American Soybean Association Board.

“The board also thanks Parks Wells for his leadership and commitment to soybean growers over the past three decades,” Meadows continued. “Parks has been the face of our organization for a long time, and we are grateful for his expertise and continued involvement.”

Prior to joining Farm Bureau, Maupin worked on his family’s row crop farm in Dyer County. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin. He and wife, Michele, are the parents of two children.
